Choosing a uniform for your beauty aesthetic clinic or medispa

In previous blog posts, we’ve discussed the importance of a uniform for a number of different reasons – branding, staff motivation & productivity and professionalism, to name just three. Uniforms can also play an important role in how your customers perceive your business – whether you’re a drop-in nail bar, a pampering day spa or a busy local beauty salon. Nowhere is this more vital than in a specialist aesthetics clinic. More and more salons are incorporating high-tech treatments into their offerings, and many have branded themselves as aesthetics clinics through their uniforms and décor – and we’ve covered uniforms for this type of business in this blog post. But if you’re exclusively an aesthetics business, specialising in non-surgical procedures to combat signs of ageing, rejuvenate and refresh skin, then you might want to go a step further and really reflect the “clinic” feel of your premises in your uniform. Here are a few ideas to help you select the best uniform for your aesthetics business:

Go for white if possible

White is THE colour to go for if you want to portray your business as a serious clinic. There are many reasons for this – a crisp white tunic looks clean and professional, and evokes a level of trust among your clients that your business has high hygiene standards – essential if you want to give the sense that your business operates to the highest of standards in every aspect of their treatments. But there’s another reason – generally white uniforms can be washed at a higher temperature than coloured uniforms, so literally they are more hygienic than coloured uniforms.

Opt for a hardwearing and easy-care material

Your choice of material must also bear the clinical feel of your business in mind – especially if you are choosing a white uniform. After all, there is nothing worse than a grubby and wrinkly uniform, and remember that white can show every stain! So make sure your uniform is made from material that is easy to wash and requires little ironing in order to look its best. Many of our healthcare tunics are manufactured in a polycotton mix, which gives the crispness of cotton with the washability of polyester. Or look for our Novaro easy-care bi-stretch material, a comfortable fabric against the skin that probably won’t need ironing if it’s taken out of the machine immediately.

Look for concealed openings

Again, the most important point when choosing a uniform for an aesthetics clinic is to give the feel of high standards in hygiene – another way to achieve this is to go for a simple uniform, free of embellishments. Tunics with concealed openings, such as our N323 Front Opening Tunic, gives a sleek look thanks to the concealed button band. Even our incredibly popular B212 Tie-Back Tunic is ideal as it fastens with a back zip, therefore keeping the front sleek and clean. Plus it’s available in white!

Consider smart scrubs

Scrubs have come out of the hospital theatre and into the clinic – and thanks to the new generation of smart scrubs crafted in luxurious crease-resistant fabric, these are now the ideal choice for aesthetics. Comfortable, practical and professional, smart scrubs are associated with healthcare settings, therefore giving your clients a sense of high standards in every aspect, from training to hygiene. Our Margherita Luxsatin Scrub Tops are available in a wide range of colours, and incredibly easy to care for. Match with our unisex Rodi Luxsatin Trousers. What’s more, they can be washed at 60 degrees Celsius (the white version can be washed at 95 degrees Celsius), so stains are easily removed, keeping them as professional-looking as the first day you wore them.

Think practical!

So we’ve made the point that an aesthetics clinic uniform should be professional, hygienic and free from clutter – but it should also be practical! That’s why so many of our healthcare tunics include pockets – such as our B428 Modern Tunic with Pockets – as well as practical necklines that allow freedom of movement without gaping. This means that your therapists can perform their job to the best of their ability without worrying about their uniform.
